Application of PLC in Automatic Calibration System of Flow Meter
In the crude oil pipeline transportation industry, flowmeters are widely used. In the crude oil transfer process, the measurement accuracy of the flowmeter is a very critical parameter, which directly affects the reputation and economic benefits of pipeline transportation enterprises. According to the requirements of the specification, each operating flowmeter needs to be calibrated regularly, and the calibration device is generally a volumetric tube.
Early calibration of volumetric tubes had high requirements for calibration personnel, and had disadvantages such as low calibration accuracy and large equipment wear and tear. For this reason, PLC was introduced into the volumetric tube calibration system, and the industrial computer (IPC) was used as the operation interface to form a new type of flowmeter automatic calibration system, which was successfully applied in several metering stations of the Luning long-distance pipeline. Compared with the earlier calibration system, the stability, reliability and operability have been greatly improved, and good calibration results have been achieved.
