1. Connect the PLC to the network.
2. Create a new project in TIA Portal.
3. Select Configure Devices.
4. Click Add New Device. From the controller tree expand SIMATIC S7-1200 [6es7212-1ae40-0xb0]>CPU>
Unspecified CPU 1200, select the CPU under it and click Add.
5. You are now in the Project view of the TIA Portal. Click Detect to automatically detect the PLC from the list
of available devices on the network.
6. Select PN/IE as the type of PG/PC interface and select the network adapter used to connect to the PLC on
the PG/PC screen.
7. when the scan is complete, select the PLC from the list of compatible devices. next, click Detect.
8. If the PLC you added is not on the same subnet as your computer, you will be prompted to assign a new IP
address to the network interface; click Yes.
9. Later, you may have to change the IP address of the PLC to one that is on the same subnet as your computer;
otherwise, the plant I/O may not be able to connect to it.
10. The detected PLC is now located in the Device View. Some of its properties need to be adjusted to allow
communication with the factory I/O. Double-click on the controller to open the Properties panel.
11. First assign an IP address to the PLC. On the General tab of the Properties page, expand PROFINET Interface
and select Ethernet addresses.
12. If you are prompted to assign a new IP address to the network interface, you should now assign an IP address
to the PLC on the same subnet as the computer.
13.PLC physical inputs use the first memory address of %I by default. In order for the factory I/O to be able to
write sensor values to %I, you must offset the input address, we recommend offsetting it by 10. Click I/O Addresses
and then change Input Address > Start Address to 10.
