China's drought disrupts industry and the Yangtze River shrinks

The driest summer in China in 60 years reduced the width of one of the most powerful rivers to half that of normal, and triggered a scramble to control the damage to the weak economy in a politically sensitive year, as ships quietly advanced in the middle of the Yangtze River.
