The National Day of the People's Republic of China is also known as the Eleventh, National Day, National Day, China National Day, and National Golden Week.

The Central People's Government has declared 1 October every year since 1950 as the day on which the People's Republic of China was proclaimed as the National Day.

1. Streets are decorated with lanterns and colours

Every National Day, lanterns or banners are hung everywhere, with slogans such as ‘Celebrate National Day’ to celebrate the National Day, while bonsai and balloons with slogans are placed in the squares to welcome the National Day in a joyful atmosphere.

2. National Day Long Holiday

In 1999, China revised and issued the ‘Measures for National Holidays on Annual Festivals and Anniversaries’, combining the National Day and the adjacent Saturday and Sunday into a 7-day National Day holiday, which is called the ‘National Day Golden Week’, and letting the common people feel the joy of the National Day together with the situation of the holiday.
