Malaysia's semiconductor industry will benefit from the chip and Science Act
The bill is an abbreviation for "creating incentives conducive to the production of semiconductors and science". It promises to provide more than 280 billion US dollars (1 US dollar = rm4.44) of federal funds, including 52.7 billion US dollars of subsidies, to support semiconductor production and research in the United States.
Datuk Seri Wong Siew Hai, chairman of the Malaysian Semiconductor Industry (B&R X20PS2100 Power Supply Module,Siemens 6AV2123-2MB03-0AX0 HMI, Allen Bradley 1756-IB32 Input Module) Association (MSIA), said that according to the bill signed by President Joe Biden on August 9, 2022, the world's largest economy is expected to establish the most advanced chip manufacturing (FAB) factory with a process technology of 7 nm or less.
Although the new technology is expected to be transferred to the assembly and testing parts after the establishment of the new factory in the United States, Huang hopes that the government can encourage Malaysian companies to help them grow so as to compete with their counterparts in Southeast Asia.
